Families are constantly changing.
Change can have positive and healthy aspects, such as the birth of baby, a child going to school or leaving home. Or it can be a more distressing time, such as when there is a family break up, a parent in prison or a child needing to be raised by a grandparent. Other situations could be when you find yourself or a whānau member coping with an illness or a disability. All these circumstances bring change to a whānau in terms of relationships, roles and place in the whānau. Many of these changes can bring feeling of loss and grief.
