Skylight offers support for those affected by floods

South Cantabrians have been pushed to the limit this week after being battered by the worst floods for 100 years. With numerous homes flooded, displaced residents and closed schools and offices, many people have been left devastated. They're facing yet more upheaval in their lives, after already living through the earthquake three years ago and its aftermath.

Skylight, a national organisation supporting all ages through trauma, loss and grief in their lives, has immediately responded by posting up a dedicated webpage offering both practical information and emotional support to those affected. To access Skylight's web page, follow this link:

https://skylight.org.nz/Floods+and+Storms+Support

This site provides an extensive list of links and downloads providing high quality information and advice, including advice on restoring your home after flood damage, and public health and safety information. It also offers children's flood-specific resources.

Skylight CE, Bice Awan, comments

"Today many people are facing not only a tough clean up, but a considerable emotional aftermath as well. At Skylight we have had a long-term close connection with Christchurch communities and so have a sense of the distress this may be causing.

"We know that providing good information and support resources for all ages can make a big difference. We have already had many hits to this page and want to spread the word that it's available."
