Skylight calls for votes to win Medibank community grant

Skylight, a highly regarded national not-for-profit social enterprise that supports people of all ages through times of change, trauma, loss and grief, is delighted to announce that we have made the shortlist to win a 2015 Medibank Community Grant.

We are urging our supporters to get behind Skylight by voting for us here before Friday 5 December 2014. If successful, Skylight will be able to provide our Getting Stronger resources, along with training and professional support, to 34 low decile schools in Auckland.

Kirsty Prentice, Skylight’s Fundraising Co-ordinator said today, “Getting stronger is an innovative and ground-breaking board game, which helps young people aged 8 to 14 to build resilience and open up around sensitive topics.  It also addresses crucial issues like parental break up, bullying, anger management, coping with domestic violence, death, dealing with a family member with a mental illness, addiction, serious illness and injury.  We are keen make this available to schools in Auckland for young people and communities who would not otherwise be able to afford it.”

Five New Zealand projects from the Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch regions have been shortlisted to share in grants worth $600,000. This is the first time Kiwis have been invited to vote for the initiative they believe will be of most benefit to their community.

Skylight is keen to attract as many votes as possible, so we can have a significant impact on the lives of young people in the Auckland region who need some extra support. Every vote counts, so go along to the website now and vote for us, and do spread the word to all your networks too.
