Invitation to lunch with a celebrity

Fancy lunch with Labour leader Andrew Little? Or perhaps you’d rather bend the ear of a Mayor or have a laugh with Jeremy Elwood and Michele A’Court.

These well-known New Zealanders, like Louise Nicholas Patron of Skylight who is supporting the cause says: “When my brother committed suicide I wish I had someone like Skylight to support my family”. Louise and many others are offering to take you to lunch in return for a donation to the Skylight Trust, which offers counselling support, information, and guidance to people facing loss and grief.

This week is Loss and Grief Awareness Week, which Skylight Chief Executive Heather Henare is a time to think about the powerful impact that loss and grief can have on the lives of children, young people, families and whānau and the wider community.

To help raise funds to pay for counselling and resources for those who are struggling financially, Skylight is auctioning lunch dates with celebrities, on Trade Me.

Bids are open for lunch with politicians Andrew Little, Louisa Wall, former MP Georgina Beyer, Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, or Porirua Mayor Nick Leggett. Other lunch dates up for auction include comedians Mike King, Jeremy Elwood and Michele A’Court, acting greats Dame Kate and Miranda Harcourt, union leader Helen Kelly, philanthropist Gareth Morgan, documentary maker Bryan Bruce, drag artist Amanduh La Whore and Skylight Trust patrons Louise Nicholas, Judy Bailey and Kerry Prendergast, and Skylight’s CEO Heather Henare.
