Counsellor Profiles

The Skylight Counselling Team is made up of professional counsellors who support children, young people, families/whanau and friends, when they are experiencing grief, loss and trauma, which includes:

  • bereavement 
  • family break-up
  • anger/anxiety/bullying
  • family member with chronic illness or disability
  • witness of domestic violence
  • trauma including bereavement through suicide or homicide


All Skylight counsellors maintain total client confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993, NZAC Code of Ethics and Skylight's Practice Framework and they are commited to cuturally safe practice.

The fees for counselling are $90 (full fee) or $50 for those with a Community Services Card. Counselling sessions are one hour in duration.


Sarah Medlicott

Counselling and Support Services Admin Co-ordinator (Wellington)

Sarah has a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Hons). She has 10 years experience working in the health sector.

Sherine Mettini

Counsellor (Wellington & Hutt Valley)

Sherine Mettini is a professional counsellor and life-coach who works with children, young people, adults and families to sort through their challenging issues and collaboratively find solutions. Sherine offers a range of counselling including support for: grief and loss, family break-up and relationships problems, anxiety and depression, personal growth, motivation, workplace issues, trauma, autism and Asperger's syndrome. Sherine's counselling approach provides a safe place to explore feelings, a non-judgemental environment, respect and acceptance, a gentle inquisitive attitude and the opportunity for clients to work at their own pace.


Kimberley Bignell

Counsellor (Wellington and Hutt Valley)
Provisional Member NZAC

Kimberley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and German from Victoria University and a Bachelor of Counselling from Weltec. Her background is in mental health and the disability sector, she has broad experience in facilitating workshops in mental health related issues.

In her counseling sessions she uses a holistic approach, drawing on a variety of influences including narrative, cognitive behavioural and interacting therapies. Kimberley loves working with individuals of all ages to build resilience and improve their self-esteem, empowering them to make changes and find joy in their lives. When working with families, she sees the family as a unit, working with narratives to achieve positive outcomes for all members.

Serena Stace

Counsellor (Wellington)

Serena is a Contract Counsellor. She has a Master's Degree in Art Psychotherapy and has extensive experience in working with children, adults and families/whanau who are experiencing grief, loss and trauma. She is committed to culturally-safe practice and works in partnership with her clients and their families, in a safe, non-judgemental way. Serena believes that through counselling, clients and families are encouraged to have hope and move forwards.




Sarah Markham

Provisional Member NZAC

Sarah is a Skylight Counsellor in Auckland. She has experience working alongside children, young people, families and adults.Sarah started her counselling journey working in the UK and more recently she has experienced supporting families who are experiencing domestic violence. Sarah believes that exploring ups and downs in lives in a safe supportive environment, enables people to draw upon their resources and strengths. Supporting clients to move forward with a new found confidence and awareness is Sarah's passion. She uses a client lead counselling approach incorporating  Narrative therapy, CBT and play therapy.
